Chashitsu Kyushintei in Saiki City 3

Chashitsu Kyushintei in Saiki City, Oita Prefecture, derives its name from the concept that "to serve tea is to serve guests with heartfelt hospitality." This venue is ideal for traditional cultural activities such as tea ceremonies, haiku gatherings, tanka meetings, senryu sessions, flower arrangement workshops, and more. Kousenken (Main Building) The name "Kousenken" was bestowed by Fukutomi Settei, the abbot of Daitokuji Temple, the heart of tea ceremony traditions. The name embodies the sentiment, "The path enters the peach blossom paradise, deeper and deeper still." This single-story wooden building features a copper-roofed structure. The guest rooms include two 8-tatami mat rooms and one 6-tatami mat room, along with additional facilities. The tea garden incorporates the borrowed scenery of Shiroyama Hill, creating a tranquil and refined dry landscape garden (kare-sansui). It offers a serene space for contemplation. Gomian (Grass Hut) The name "Gomian" reflects the philosophy that the taste of tea can vary according to the state of one's heart, encompassing the five fundamental tastes: sweet, spicy, sour, bitter, and salty. This hut provides a space to savor these five flavors. The single-story structure, with its thatched and copper roof and earthen walls, exudes rustic elegance, perfectly embodying the spirit of a traditional grass hut.
